Dr. Amanda Humphries Appointed as New Medical Director

HealthNet Aeromedical Services is excited to announce that Amanda Humphries, MD, has been selected as the program’s new Medical Director.

Dr. Humphries comes to us from Houston, Texas, where she currently serves as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center, emergency department physician at Memorial Hermann Medical Center, medical director for the City of Sugar Land Fire-EMS, and Assistant Medical Director for AMR-Houston.

“This position generated interest from stellar physicians from all corners of the country. Our selection process was methodical and included multi-day finalist visits across our system. Through this process, it became clear that Dr. Humphries was the right person to join and lead the medical direction of our program,” said Clinton Burley, president and CEO of HealthNet Aeromedical Services.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Humphries completed her emergency medicine residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. During residency she served as a flight physician with UC Air Care and Mobile Care rotor wing fleet and eventually became the Resident Assistant Medical Director for the program. Subsequently, she entered the EMS Fellowship program at the University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque and served as a flight physician with the Lifeguard program there. While in the southwest, Dr. Humphries actively completed both rotor and fixed wing transports.

“One of the key components to my medical direction philosophy is that the medical director belongs in the field. I am looking forward to spending time on the helicopters and in the ambulance to understand the challenges our team members face,” said Humphries. “I truly look forward to ensuring that this program continues to provide the citizens of West Virginia and surrounding areas with a premier level of critical care transport medicine.”

Dr. Humphries will begin serving in her new role on November 27, 2023.
